  • Hi Im wondering, does anyone else get pulled over by the police a lot and what would be considered a lot? DH has been driving for almost 2 and a half years, hes 27 although he does look young. He had never been pulled until the last 4 months, hes been pulled 4 times now. Its always when hes on his way to work or on his way home from work, he doesn't drive irresponsible or speed. As he is a butcher he works early mornings, starting at 5am 6 days a week, both times hes been pulled on a morning he was asked what he was doing driving at that time of day (4.30am), I actually found this amusing when he told me, because he was wearing company clothes with the company logo spread across the front of it, on one occasion they searched his car, didnt say why just told him to open his boot etc, the… BackToTop
  • Can anyone give me an idea of how much a small family car would depreciate after 6 months with average mileage? I'm specifically interested in buying a nearly new 1.4 or 1.6 petrol Seat Leon, VW Golf or BMW 1 series and want to make sure I'm not paying a dealer over the odds for it. Thanks. BackToTop
  • Time for a few BMW driver cliches - I've think I've sussed out why you're all so bad tempered, drive too fast and don't indicate.....Ok, so recently I drove from Bristol to Exeter in one of these BMW 1 series coupes. Looks nice, drives well, but dear God! The most uncomfortable car in the world. Ever. Now I'm not a fat lad, I'm no wider than most, but I had real trouble squeezing between the seat bolsters - after 30 seconds it was like being continuously crushed in the kidneys, after an hour on the M5 I was crippled. Through my tears of agony, I gave up on the most basic of road coutesy in a desperate desire to simply arrive at my destination and get out of the damn car. Plus, the footwell is far too small for my proper man sized feet and the indicator stalk only gives you a one second f… BackToTop
  • I'm trying to get an understanding of what people are actually obtaining for largely in town driving in their small cars on a regular basis. If you can help out, please post your data in this thread. Ideally I'd like to see: Ford Fiesta 1.25 petrol 5 door 2009 12k miles per annum getting 37.5 mpg around town but please add in any extra data you think might be useful. Thanks. BackToTop

  • Hi I am in need of 4 tyres (185 / 60 R14 H82). the cheapest fully fitted price for 4 - I can find for a good brand "Courier (by Pirelli) K Drive" is £169 from www.blackcircles.com . Their budget brand is £150 Quidco offers 2.5% Can anyone suggest any better options ? I only do approx 5,000 miles a year - and want something decent - after all it is on a car (with safety and all that)... Im a bit nervous about those part worn tyres... unless someone can educate me - those will cost me £60 in total... so over £100 in saving. BackToTop
  • Sorry, feel the need for a bit of a rant! I have noticed that less and less car drivers are using their indicators these days, especially on roundabouts, which makes life difficult when joining the roundabout. Quite often even when they do use their indicators, they don't do what they are indicating. Also, people don't turn their indicators off, which can be very confusing. Ok rant over! BackToTop
  • I recently placed a deposit to hold a car while a credit check was carried out. I did this even before test driving purely as I wanted to see if I would be able to obtain credit, I would then take any purchase decision from there. I had been told the deposit was refundable or else I never would have placed it. Within a few hours of paying the deposit my situation had changed and I was no longer interested in getting a second car. BackToTop
  • Done the following; Gumtree in 3 diff cities, Facebook status, Facebook marketplace, word-of-mouth to friends, asked them to spread the word, Adtrader.co.uk, local Sainsburys notice board. Need to put an advert in car window, other supermarkets, Post Office notice board. Any other hints? Need a quick, but fairly-priced sale! Paid £30 for 2x sales on eBay for no interest - urgh! Cheers! • I took my Chrysler cruiser to a local garage 10 weeks ago. The power steering had gone and they diagnosed that the pump had gone. Repairing that and replacing discs and brakes on front wheels cost me £800. I drove it home and the steering went again. I rang them and returned the car the next day. They gave me their customer car to use. That was the last I have seen of my Chrysler. BackToTop
