Too much sliced ham

I got two large packets of sliced ham opened for some reason. I know one of them needs really to be eaten today or tomorrow at the latest or it will go off. Any ideas what I can do with it besides give it to the cat. I usually make cabonara sauce with some pasta or slice potatoes and onions and layer it with cheese and ham in the oven...but the kids and hubby are a bit fed up with these two dishes. Quick and easy recipes would be fantastic since my cooking skills are a bit limited. Edit: Cant do a omelet or quiche since my boys absolutely hate eggs

would they eat pasta if it was a slightly different dish? I'd make it into a pasta sauce with cream - sweat some finely chopped onion in butter till transparent, add chopped ham and cook for a few minutes, then stir in cream and cook until thickened. Add some parmesan at the last minute and serve with pasta. Or how about cold with salad and a baked potato?

Freeze it and use it later on

This is actually a filling for vol-a-vonts but don't see why it would not work with baked potatoes. Cooked ham - minced Indian hot sweet chutney or mango chutney and a dash of mustard soft cream cheese to bind Beat all the ingredients together adding just enough soft cheese to bind. Obviously you will know if your boys would eat the chutney or not but I'm sure the mixture could be made in two strengths as it were.

How about a ham & Chicken Pie, fry an onion maybe some mushrooms and a clove of garlic then add cooked chicken and ham, maybe some sweetcorn or peas, then a little chicken stock and some cream and you have a tasty filling for a pie.

How about a risotto? Fry it off, add onions then rice and follow normal risotto recipe adding whatever vegetables you have. Could even do it using normal rice if you don't want to faff around stirring.

We had this problem last week. Husband just made up a huge batch of ham sandwiches and froze them, he'll be taking them to work when he hasn't got leftovers to take and heat up.

3 days before Christmas..... ham, chips and beans would be fine for me! You can fry it gently as well like bacon if you want to eat it hot with mash and buttered cabbage.

Put it on a pizza. Either make you own pizza, buy a plain pizza and add all the toppings and the ham, or buy a cheese and tomato pizza and add the ham.

There are only two of us and we buy the large packs of sliced ham from Costco. Wrap three or four slices in clingfilm, and freeze them.

It is true that the ham will freeze fine, but there are also loads of things you can cook with it. It is great for cantonese rice, or any stir-fry, or what about quiche,or a ham & cheese plait made with puff pastry? Or you could roll par-boiled chicory in ham, cover with grated cheese and bake in oven or under the grill to make 'chicons'. Lots of possibilities!

I would make Leeks wrapped in ham in a cheese sauce Quiche or omlette using the ham as filling Ham toasted sandwiches to serve with hot soup You can also freeze ham - we did last year when our supermarket were selling off ends of ham joints from the delli for 50p each Best Wishes Trin

how about. Cutting the ham into strips, with some halved cherry tomatoes, mushrooms (or whatever you have going). Fry for a couple of minutes in butter. Combine with some spagetti and then stir in some green pesto....lovely
