I am in the process of buying a car ?3k and wondered is it worth paying for some of it with my credit card? Would it cover you in anyway? There is a 2.5% fee for paying it, so i was thinking perhaps pay ?1900(only?2k limit) on the card and the rest cash. Other than it being interest free(apart from the fee) so i can spread the cost, what other benefit would it have if any? Many Thanks.

Hi all, May seem like a foolish question, but if the interest applied to my card balance places me over-limit one month, am I in 'default' even though that over-limit amount is included in the next minimum payment due ? My card provider has pulled my credit (and demanded full settlement of the outstanding amount) based on this. I would not think it reasonable to suggest that I had defaulted when, in fact, I'm over limit but only so due to the interest. NB - I have, in the past, always paid on time, overpaid or settled in full. Thanks

I've a mate whose an author, he's had his CC compromised 3 times in the last 13 months (the first time for over 10K). His bank doesn't seem to have any safeguards in place despite changing him for ID protection each month which they don't seem able to give. Someone been using his autograph to write the bank and change his address (despite his autograph and signature being different). So, can anyone recommend a bank or CC company that offers real ID protection? I realise its not easy, but there must be better than where he is now ??

Basically, I have had alot of stuff going on in my life recently and lost control of my finances and have decided to try and get it sorted. I only have the one credit card, which is a Barclaycard with a debt of £2359 at an APR of 29.9% (It never used to be this high!). So I would like to know whether or not i should try to get a new credit card with a lower APR and then transfer this debt over to that card so that I can actually start paying it off instead of just the interest. I would also like to get some recommendations on what card would be best and how I would go about transferring the debt over. Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can offer.

A lot of companies like to automatically charge you to renew their. The RAC, Adrian Flux and various do this. I can understand RAC but Adrian Flux just renewing insurance without you having the chance to get other quotes seem fraudulant. Thankfully my card had been previously misplaced and then replaced by the card company so the card number had changed. I only realised they [Adrian Flux] were trying to renew my policy when i recieved an email saying they could not! Recently Datingdirect have automatically charged another six month subscription charge of approx £60. I phoned and challenged them about this, not having used the service for at least 10 months and they told me they operate a no refund policy. Does this contravene my consumer rights? Surley companies cannot just charge you …

I have insurance on my motor scooter which is third party, it was stolen and I still have to pay the insurance (which I pay monthly ?20). When I contacted my insurance broker they told me I cannot cancel the policy unless I pay the full costs which defeats the object of cancelling, So right now Im paying for insurance on a bike that I cannot use. On further inquiries to them I told them I was working now,(as my policy stated I was a student) and now they are charging me an admin fee of ?26.87 on top of my monthly direct debit of ?20. I only have two payments left of ?20 which is still a joke and now they want to charge me admin fees for the bike I dont have so there is no way I can make a claim anyway! I will refuse to pay them for this and I have cancelled my DD's to them. I have tr…

I had a mortgage with the Portman, from Jan 2005 until it was taken over by the Nationwide. I have continued uninterrupted with the Nationwide to this date, though my specific mortgage arrangement has changed as I went from one fixed deal to another. I have a "Halifax Mortgage Repayments Cover Plan" acceptance, from Feb 2007, accepting me for cover, for both "Accident and Sickness"; and "Unemployment and Carer". I have the original document they sent me. In it they stated, in "Your Plan Summary" that my "Mortgage Repayments Cover Term" was "240 months", from 7th February 2007 to 6th February 2027. This was evidently a mistake, as I had applied for the available 24 (rather than 12) months, at 133%. I discussed this with the Portman at the time of receipt - they confirmed 24 months. This n…

My sister just brought a new car (03 fiesta) and called her insurance company to change the vehicle details. They wanted an extra ?21 bringing the monthly cost to ?51!! Not being confident with dealing this sort of thing she just went along with it. Since then she has had a letter to say they want ?54 a month. I have looked at the paper work she received and there is no direct debit break down anywhere for the insurance only the quote with the interest and admin fee which worked out at ?41 over 12 months. I have had a little shop around on the comparison websites and the quotes I got back for her ranged from ?20-30, even the company she is with quoted ?32 a month. She doesn't have the money to pay it out right so direct debit is her only option, but where does she stand with the si…
