Anyone here work for esa?

I just need some advise as i am frustrated with the post.. I get dla high mobility, med care, and income based esa. Was told i was entitled to the disability premium, and once dla tell them i would start getting the money, that never happened, when i did call dla they said how would they know to call esa, (knowing how long it takes to get hold of anyone on the esa helpline) i call esa back, it took a few weeks, i relay this back to them and they say no its wrong, but said they would send out a form for me to fill out and once they receive it they could decide if i need the extra money, they did, i filled it out and sent it back at the same time as my sick note, (i leave it a few weeks then call again) they received the sick note but said they did not receive the form, so they send me another, i fill that out and last week asked the OH if he would take it to the nearest benefit office, he did, they said they couldn't take it, but did say where he could take it, he didn't have time, so gave it back, but i gave my son instructions of where to go to hand it in..... My son goes to the benefit office that was suggested, as OH was told they can fax the forms to the relevant office, or pop it in their internal post, the receptionist was so rude to my son, he's only 14, refused to take the form, kept talking over him when he tried to explain that he was told to hand the forms in, receptionist wouldn't have it and told my son to post it in a external post (royal mail) and now thats 2 forms stuck in a sorting office somewhere if i am really lucky. So Friday i get hold of esa again, explain what has happened (they still haven't received either forms) i am housebound and can only go out if i have assistance, so i made the suggestion if they email the forms to me perhaps i can fill them out (again) and scan back to email back to them....... still waiting for the call back to see if that can be done (can it?) i can't fax, or get to a fax... So the question is, can i have it emailed and scan it back to email (email back ), i get conflicting information when i have called in the past, if i am due this money it's over 2 months worth now and i am desperate for it, washing machine has decided to pack in and i need money for the key meter (electric) it's getting cold i need to heat my home. (illness related) cold = very poorly

I doubt very much that it can be e-mailed back to them, I've never heard of it ever happening in the past. On another point though, there is no disability premium on ESA, the only way DLA will increase your ESA(IR) is if you get at least middle rate care, and there is no-one over 18 in the household who are not also on MRC of DLA.

i am on middle rate care, and i am the only adult in the household.. if it's not called disability premium what is it called? http://www.dsdni.gov.uk/index/ssa/be...a_dis_prem.htm I've had lots of esa staff tell me that i could be entitled to extra money.. if i fit the criteria the only one i remember was being on dla.. I get high rate mobility and middle rate care. It's just me and my 14 year old son who cares for me but cannot be my carer as he is too young.

You mentioned an 'OH' so I assumed there was another adult in the house. Its called Severe Disability Premium. Also, is it DWP or the SSA you are dealing with? DWP deal with Britain whereas SSA deal with northern Ireland, the operate differently.

I have a OH, but he doesn't live with me. yes looking at the severe disability premium this is the one i think they are on about.. I've even asked for a home visit, but, i'm just not getting the call back.. i did voice my concern that its been over 2 months, and if it reaches 3 months i will start loosing this money, i was told that because of the postal strike it will not affect the money, but again i don't know if this is true or just to make me feel better

Not something I've encountered before, but C&P regs say: and I'd expect JCP to consider a scanned/emailed form to be sufficient in your particular case. And emailing could be 'delivered or sent'

Youve seen the posts here about having a OH and not living together. sunnyone

no, something i should know...OH/boyfriend/partner!! if he doesn't live with me, what have i missed..

like the other poster said there is no disability premium on esa only severe disability premium, if you have a OH do you claim income based just for yourself and not your OH? if you do get it as a single person and theres no other adult living in the house or no one else claiming carers allowance for looking after you, esa should add an extra 52 onto your income based esa for you

I am a single mum with my 14 year old son, I have a boyfriend/fella/OH what ever people call their partners these days But he doesn't live with us, i only claim esa just for me, i have no carer, OH can't do it he works full time, my son is at school ... it's just me and the pup until son comes home from school. I don't understand why people think i should claim for someone who doesn't live with me, he's got his own home and has a job his own life... but back to the original question, obviously i don't trust the post at the moment, and wanted to know what alternatives were there to get this blasted form to the benefits agency

Just because you dont live together dosnt mean that you are not classed as LTAMAW by DWP, the DWP consider many aspects of relationships, such as do you shop together? Do you eat together? and loads of other things including does he maintain his own household?, we get single parents here all the time that get called for IUC after somone reports them for LTAMAW. Its the biggest benefit fraud ATM, claiming to be single while having a partner and living as a family in everyway apart from benefits where they want to be seen as single to claim more money. I am answering your question and certainly not accusing you of doing this, ONW has a much bigger font of knowlege on this. sunnyone

well to clear a few things up (i feel like i am airing my washing in the public to prove my innocence here) I may well have a boyfriend, we are not enganged/married etc he has his own life, his own finances, he buys his own groceries with his money, his own bank accounts, not connected with me at all. i am 100% just a single mum. we don't live together and will not be for the foreseeable future, and that will be several years

Thank god for that Royal Mail finally delivered my paperwork yesterday.. the matter is all sorted, yes i was entitled, Thanks to all with their helpful advise

Im sorry if my explantion of the problems that we hear about all the time upset you, I always assumed that living together was the base line but apparently the DWP dont see things that way and other single mothers have come unstuck, I only asked you if you had seen the posts. Pleased that the post got there, that can sometimes be a feat in itself. sorry sunnyone

sunnyone no worries but can you explain what LTAMAW means, you lost me there. I would only claim what i am entitled to, and not a penny more, it's not right for people to claim what they shouldn't when we struggle as it is to get what we are due

Its actually LTHAW/CP - Living Together as Husband and Wife or Civil Partners.

ahhh well that i defiantly am not

why are people on this forum cruel?

You can only get the severe disability premium with mid/high care DLA; it is not paid with HRM.

Healy en It all depends on your personal circumstances too... you will need to contact them to ask, better still if you are able to get to a benefits agency ask them for the form...
